Xiwang Village Practice Project

Education and Cultural Architecture

This work, known as the Xiwang Village Practice Project, is a result of an architectural practical teaching project. It was launched, designed, and supervised by students between the ages of 11-20, alongside their teachers. The project includes architectural design, visual design, and packaging design, among others. The architectural part of the project was exhibited at the Shenzhen Sea World Culture and Arts Center.

The project was designed by a team of students and tutors and built together by villagers and construction workers. The site measures 10m in length, 10m in width, and has a height of 5.8m. The main structure of the building utilizes the direct connection of wooden parts, known as the mortise and tenon joint.

The Xiwang Village Practice Project was launched by a team of students and tutors. The processes of raising funds, designing, and contacting villagers and local organizations were all completed by the team itself. This ensured that everyone involved had utmost passion and motivation.

The project started in Shenzhen in October 2020. The first phase of construction of the main building was completed in January 2021. The preparation of visual design curation for the second phase started in May 2021, and the final visual design and exhibition were completed in July 2021.

The Xiwang Village Practice Project was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in the category of Education, Teaching Aid, and Training Content Design in 2022. This award recognizes well-designed, practical, and innovative creations that meet professional and industrial requirements. The project is respected for integrating industry best practices and competent technical characteristics, providing fulfillment and positive feelings, and contributing to a better world.
